Head to South Texas and enjoy sweeping views of the gulf of Mexico, as well as the lower Colorado River, from your campground at Matagorda Bay Nature Park! Their RV sites include pull through, waterfront, and full service options. If you want to enjoy the RV lifestyle, but don’t own the RV, then reserve one of their two Airstream campers which include heat and A/C, shower, restroom, kitchen and grill and can sleep up to four people.

If you want to accommodate a larger group of travelers than your RV can handle, then we have some great news! Later this year, 10 newly built beach bungalows will be available for rent at Matagorda Bay Nature Park on the Texas Gulf Coast. With vast waters for fishing and guided trails for canoes and kayaks, this waterfront destination is ideal for anglers and paddlers. The vacation properties are available to book now for stays beginning in September 2022.

With elevated amenities for outdoor adventurers, the new beachside accommodations feature waterfront views, large decks, fully equipped kitchens, stainless steel grills and covered boat parking. The Lower Colorado River Authority’s Matagorda Bay Nature Park is about 100 miles southwest of Houston and boasts 1,334 acres of coastal parkland and wetlands at the mouth of the Colorado River on the Matagorda Peninsula. The bungalows are an easy drive from major Texas cities such as Austin, Houston and San Antonio and are an ideal destination for people looking to relax and unwind.

The large beach rentals, which include two bedrooms and one bathroom, can sleep up to eight people and start at $350 per night. Rentals for smaller bungalows that can sleep up to six people begin at $300 per night. Two-night minimum bookings are required, and seasonal rates apply. The park offers a boat ramp, fishing piers, and kayak and golf cart rentals.

Matagorda Bay Nature Park is a veritable playground for outdoor enthusiasts. The area is renowned as a top fishing destination. Anglers regularly catch redfish, speckled trout, flounder, black drum and sheepshead. From fishing the back lakes of Matagorda Bay, the Colorado River or surf fishing the Gulf of Mexico, the area is known for producing trophy-size fish year-round.
