Summer is a time for fun, relaxation and refreshing drinks; but they don't always have to include alcohol.
In fact, more and more people are starting to make the switch to enjoying "mocktails"; non-alcoholic versions of some of their favorite drinks. If you haven't waded into the mocktail waters yet, no worries; we dug up three excellent mocktail recipes that we're certain you're going to love!
Grape & Tonic mocktail
Ingredients:
- 2 oz of blood grapefruit juice
- 4 oz of tonic water
- Ice cubes
- Slice of blood grapefruit
- Sprig of rosemary
Directions:
Mix juice and tonic water together. Add ice and garnish with slice of grapefruit and sprig of rosemary.
Something to keep in mind:
Non-alcoholic cocktails made from citrus juices and soda appeal to folks who like drier drinks.
Strawberries & Roses mocktail
Ingredients:
- 1 oz of fresh lemon juice
- 1.5 oz of blood grapefruit juice
- 1-2 oz of strawberry juice concentrate or strawberry cocktail syrup
- 4 oz of rose lemonade (we recommend Fentimans)
- Ice cubes
- A few strawberry slices
Directions:
Mix juices, strawberry juice concentrate or cocktail syrup and rose lemonade together in a glass. Add ice and garnish with slice of strawberry.
Something to keep in mind:
A fresh strawberry non-alcoholic drink is the perfect refreshment for a hot day. It also pairs very well as a starter drink for a barbecue.
Watermelon Punch
Ingredients:
- 3 small squares of watermelon (about 1" square)
- 3 orange wedges
- 1 lemon wedge, peeled
- 1 oz of sugar, simple syrup
- 2 oz of cranberry juice
- 4 oz non-alcoholic white win
- crushed ice
Directions:
- Crush watermelon pieces, orange wedges and lemon wedge inside a mason-style jar.
- Add syrup, cranberry juice and non-alcoholic white wine. Add crushed ice to fill the jar.
- Place a small fork inside so that you can eat the fruit out once you're done.
Something to keep in mind:
You can make a lot of different mocktails the night before and simply pop a lid on them to make them mobile. However, if a recipe calls for ice, do not add it at this time as it will water-down the drink. Add ice right before you're ready to enjoy.
