Trailer Village RV Park

Grand Canyon Village, AZ
VisitGrandCanyon.com

Visiting the Grand Canyon for the first time with the kids? We recommend you limit the distractions and situate yourself in a campsite that allows you to just soak in the grandeur. The Trailer Village RV Park fits that bill exactly. As the only full hookup RV park that’s—in the actual Grand Canyon itself!—it frees you up to just focus on the fun.

Camp Scholler

Oshkosh, WI
EAA.org

Look up and see a sky full of P-51 Mustangs, MiGs, and the Red Bull Air Force at the annual air show at Oshkosh! To park at Camp Scholler (just below), someone will have to be an Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) member, but it’s relatively cheap ($48)—like the tickets themselves ($34 for camping, $84 for full hookup).

Anvil Campground

Williamsburg, VA
AnvilCampground.com

Colonial Williamsburg is exactly what every historical vacation spot should be: fun and engaging—like a museum that comes to life. Like Williamsburg itself, Anvil Campground surpasses expectations. Which is probably why it won the National RV Park of the Year award. Twice. The facilities are modern. The Wi-Fi is too. And kids under 12 stay for free.

Pinewood Lodge Campground

Plymouth, MA
PinewoodLodge.com

Plymouth is America’s hometown. (Or at least one of them.) Between it and Boston, there’s a treasure chest of history. The Pinewood Lodge Campground puts you right between Boston and Cape Cod, with heavily shaded parking spots that are a lifesaver in the Summer. And you’ll need a nice, cool, shady retreat after a day of exploring.

I Heart TIPS

The Trailer Village RV Park’s prime position puts you near the South Rim Trail, whose paved path is perfect for tiny peoples (especially if you have one in a stroller).

I Heart TIPS

Bring an aircraft identification book (civil and military), so both you and any kids or grandkids you have with you can spot and identify planes as they appear.

I Heart TIPS

Every visitor of every age will truly enjoy seeing history come to life in Williamsburg. But when you need a change of pace, the Busch Gardens theme park is just 15

I Heart TIPS

Bring your water toys! Kayaks, canoes, tackle boxes. After you’ve seen Plymouth Rock, you can paddle and fish as you like at the park’s 50-acre freshwater lake
