Let Freedom Ring

Playing your favorite songs about the land you love.

Whitney Houston, “America the Beautiful”

No one sings this—or the national anthem —like Whitney. (Which is why both are on our playlist.) Quite simply, there’s no better song to kick off a road trip into the spectacle of America’s natural beauty.

Don McLean, “American Pie”

This Billboard-busting ballad from the ‘70s paints America as a land of social change, big dreams, major letdowns, but above all, great music. Safe to say, Don got it right.

Lee Greenwood, “God Bless the U.S.A.”

Look: We’ll give you 43 seconds to resist singing this heart-swelling classic out loud. But once that chorus kicks in, your singing will shift to automatic. (Extra patriot points if you cry, but no need to stand while driving.)

Cynthia Erivo, “Stand Up”

We love this modern take on African-American spirituals from the Harriet motion picture soundtrack. And we’re not gonna lie: The lyrics go perfect with an RV road trip.

Lynard Skynard, “Free Bird”

Not really sure this pick requires any explanation. Just hit play and fly high down the highway, free bird. There’re too many places you gotta see.
