The Highwaymen, “Highwayman

 

Can you have an outlaw playlist without Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson? No. The answer is no. “The Highwayman” is the pinnacle of outlaw tracks, beautifully performed by some of music’s most famous men.

 

 

 

 

The Highwomen, “Highwomen”

 

Brandi Carlile flipped the classic on its head to give listeners a haunting rendition of “Highwayman” from a female point of view. Performed by Natalie Hemby, Yola, Maren Morris, Brandi Carlile, and Amanda Shires, it’s a ride worthy of Thelma and Louise.

 

 

 

 

Kree Harrison, “Stone Cold”

 

A newcomer on the scene, Kree Harrison thrills with her 2020 “Stone Cold.” Harrison is reminiscent of early Lee Ann Womack with hints of outlaw queens, Jessi Colter and Leona Williams. Her entire album, “Chosen Family Tree,” is worth a listen.

 

 

 

 

Erin Enderlin, “The Queen of Marina Del Ray”
