Hearty & Healthy Tin Foil Dinner

When I was in the Scouts, we had either two options before we went on a weekend camp-out: eat before we leave (usually some kind of fast food) or make something easy as soon as we set up camp. More often than not, we opted to make our dinner at camp; where upon arrival, one person was in charge of making the fire for us to cook upon. Using several pots and pans was a hassle, so tinfoil meals was a crowd favorite.

Luckily, our friends over at Red Rover made this nifty video and gave an easy-to-follow recipe. Check it out and give this a try the next time you're in the mood for good eats in the great outdoors!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb ground meat of choice
  • 1/4 of a onion
  • 1 potato
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp pepper
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1/2 cup of frozen corn

Materials:

  • Cooking spray
  • 1 sheet of tin foil

Preparation:

  • Build a campfire.
  • Take the ground meat and form them into meatballs.
  • Dice the onion and potato.
  • Mince the garlic.

Cooking Instructions:
Spray cooking spray onto the foil. Layer each ingredient from bottom to top on the foil: meat, onion, potato, garlic, salt, pepper, and corn. Fold the tin foil, sealing any air from entering the packet. Spread out the campfire and put the foil packet onto the embers. Cook for 45 minutes, flipping it 4 times. When ready, take it out of the campfire and enjoy!
