Travel Trailer on the Prowl: Keystone RV Cougar 30BHS

The Cougar is one cool,  all-weather, half-ton cat

YOU NEED THE HIGH GROUND to dominate. And Keystone RV ascends a new peak with its latest travel trailer: the Cougar 30BHS. Lean enough to be towed by a half-ton truck, equipped for energy efficiency, and hungry for adventure, the Cougar increases the range of what we normally expect from a travel trailer. With a design beautifully suited for boondocking, its premium features enable you to lounge in cat-like comfort wherever you roam. Out in the elements, nature rewards survival of the fittest. Fortunately, Keystone’s Cougar is an all-weather animal. True-Fit slideouts seal the cabin. Its HyperDeck flooring is stronger and more resilient to water damage.

<strong>Dinette Configuration<strong>

The trailer is also double insulated, so you keep your cool and enjoy the 360-degree air circulation of the Blade air management system. The same goes for heating when those cold months arrive. The Cougar’s 35,000 Btu furnace is complemented with an electric fireplace, as well as a heated and enclosed underbelly. Additionally, PEX plumbing boosts hot-water retention and diminishes condensation in cold water lines. All told, the Cougar’s Climate Guard protection package keeps you comfortable up to 110°F and down to 0°F. The Cougar’s cabin features a kitchen with a beautiful backsplash and over 10 feet of countertop space.

<strong>Sleeping Configuration<strong>

The bright Driftwood decor enhances that roomy feel. Arched rafters rise, opening the living area and trimming it with crown molding. The bathroom suite is refreshingly complete, with a 38-inch walk-in shower (with glass door), porcelain toilet, and large sink—all serviced by a 60-gallon, largest-in-class, freshwater tank. And whether you’re sweating the mountain trail or lounging on your trifold sofa, you can monitor and control power, slide rooms, HVAC, and more from your smartphone (or central monitoring panel) with the iN-Command Generation 3 system. So, no matter where you’ve parked, the Cougar always ensures that you land in luxury.

Into the Lions’ Den

You’re going to need a lot of space if you’re making a big trip with the fam. And the Cougar 30BHS has loads of it. With a wide-open layout, it’s designed to sleep up to eleven. Remove the table from the Ready-For-Anything dinette, and the dinette converts into a sleeper sofa. Just behind it, two oversized bunk beds provide an even more fun option. And all this is before you convert the trifold sofa into a sleeper. Just past the bathroom, there is a king-size mattress—in the bedroom complete with a full wardrobe, under-bed storage, and an oversized window directly above the bed. In other words, space for your whole pride.

Conserving Energy

Off-grid, your energy resources make a huge difference. Fortunately, Dragonfly Energy Lithium batteries now come standard or optional with all Keystone RVs, including the Cougar. Lithium batteries are a safer and more stable option than their lead-acid counterparts. They also outperform them—more than doubling power in the same physical space, with 100 percent depth of discharge, an accelerated charge time, and a lifespan that is ten times longer. Coupled with Keystone RV’s Solarflex package, you can continue to keep your batteries charged and run all of your 12V systems whenever the sun is out.
