The Full Hookup: Wilderness Waypoints

Autumn camping in Big Sky country is heaven for wild hearts and restless wanderers.

Boots Campground

Road Trip: Get a glimpse of an America where the buffalo still roam at Theodore Roosevelt National Park. (Over 600 bison call the park home.) You can comfortably drive your rig
through the park’s mesas and be among them. Just make sure you take those buffalo selfies from a safe distance— especially if you get all Kevin Costner about the “tatanka.”

Sunrise Ridge Campground

Road Trip: Seeing fall foliage cover the Black Hills is reason enough to visit Wind Cave National Park. (And so is the proximity to Mount Rushmore.) But twelve miles, just beneath
the surface, you can dive into an active fossil excavation at Mammoth site. Six mammoth skeletons have been found there, and there’s plenty more for kids to uncover?

Grizzly RV Parks and Cabins

Road Trip: When you’re next door to some of the best fly fishing in the country, you need to drop a line—especially since trout bite even more aggressively in the fall. All of this makes Yellowstone National Park and the surrounding area a fisherman’s paradise. Try and catch a spot in the fertile tailwaters between Quake Lake and Hebgen Dam.

It runs 50 miles from the west to east side of Glacier National Park and takes you across the Continental Divide. From Moose Creek RV Resort, you’re just over three miles from what might be the most stunning drive of your life with trails galore to explore.
